Apparently, Trekkie Monster was wrong. The internet is for more than just porn. If you’ve seen the Broadway musical Avenue Q, then you surely know that a recurring theme asks just what the internet is good for. Fortunately for us, the internet can be used for a great many things. One such thing is email.

In fact, Avenue Q is great at email and promoting itself. Just take a look at their latest email campaign:

  • Used a great looking layout and color scheme that reflects the theme of the show.
  • They didn’t put too much content in their pictures, and broke up text into multiple easy-to-read sections with headings
  • They provided a call to action — entering the contest.
  • They used the email marketing channel as a way to cross-promote their social media channel by asking users to submit their entries on Facebook.
  • They crowdsourced their own marketing efforts by encouraging fans to make promotional materials for the show.
  • The creation of videos force the fans to be interactive with the brand
